In attendance were: Vice Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the National Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Edmund Ho Hau Wah; former Vice Chairman of the 11th CPPCC and member of the Party Leadership Group Zheng Wantong; Chairman of the Fok Ying Tung Group Fok Chun Ting; CEO of the FYT Group Fok Chun Wan; former Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC and Director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee Zhu Xiaodan. Included were also: Wang Ruijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee; Deng Haiguang, Member of the Party Leadership and United Front Work Department; Wang Shitong; Wu Yang, deputy Secretary CPC Committee and head of the Nansha District People's Government. Together at the ceremony was the general public.

This hall and museum to commemorate Fok Ying Tung opened at his centennial with the unveiling of the plaque that cites the life, works and philosophy of the patriarch and patriot as well as a testimony to one of his legacies, the Nansha project as a key part to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Greater Bay Area initiative. The site of the tribute to Fok Ying Tung is located at the foot of Mount Daijao adjacent to the Tianhou Temple and Puzhou Garden occupying 19,872 square metres, the edifice itself covering 1,268 square metres of the totality, comprising two salons, six chambres and a lawn, in the Lignan architectural style using local resources and materials and decorated with masonry, plaster, pottery and sculptures.

In sum the structure conveys what Fok Ying Tung wished to bequeath to the people a monument to evoke his quest to improve the father country via education, motivation and amelioration with an accent placed upon specifically his love of Hong Kong, Macau and Nansha which contribute each in its own fashion to the development of China as he had envisaged and embodied through his myriad contributions.

This theme made its echoes in the opening address of Fok Tsun Ting who cited his father's conviction and courage in driving forward the country to advance through hard work, commitment, perseverance and diligence. The Memorial as such is the telling of his tale and a point of reflection and aspiration in a China that weds the ancient and the modern in constant striving.

Guest Wang Ruijun also emphasized these points in his speech as he beseeched the young in particular to dedicate themselves in this quest, this cause, that transcends generations, an appeal that evokes what President Xi Jinping himself has often pledged to build a strong, progressive, cohesive and moral society. He expressed hope that the young learn from their predecessors whose struggles and travails are the foundation upon which the country based itself.

This spirit to succeed in a harmonious society resounded in the paroles of Wang Shitong who said the Museum not only dwelled upon the historical feats of Mr. Fok and his colleagues to partake in China's advancement in all domains whatever the costs to themselves but as a reminder to the youths of the trails they follow that had been laid by their ancestors through trials and tribulations because they cannot forget to whom they owe their development.

The focus for China's continuous development has been directed itself towards the fabulous growth of the Pearl River estuary Greater Bay Area which received its first major reform investments from Mr. Fok and it is incumbent upon the young to come to see and learn about the changes that he and his peers had initiated.

The patriarch had assumed many roles, a captain of industry, investor, visionary and champion of people and country who had served in a number of committees, including as Vice Chairman of the CPPCC (congress) who saw the talents abound in China that could be harnessed to reinvigorate the economy and society.

The activities to publicise the Memorial is intrinsic to the advancing China and to enlighten and galvanize the young in particular to dedicate themselves as he did for the betterment of everyone. The place, as such to open in the spring, besides being a museum, will be a gathering place for people to cooperate and fulfil their promises and live up to their potentials for themselves and for the good of the land.
